The annual Chili Cookoff found a new home at Blue Mountain's Intrawest Village a few of years ago. For 18 years the Rotary Club Chili Cookoff was held in Thornbury, but it moved to Blue Mountain's new Intrawest Village and was an instant hit with both the original organizers and the new partners at Blue Mountain Resorts. Chili Cookoff spokesperson Gerry McGregor says the new location will allow the festival to grow while at the same time allowing organizers to keep the popular event in the Town of The Blue Mountains. Gord Canning, President of Blue Mountain Resorts, has been very pleased with the event saying the Chili Cookoff is a terrific event for the new Village at Blue to host. Cooking began in the village shortly after 11am on Chili Festival Day followed by a day of taste testing. All preparation of the chili had to be done on-site and from "scratch." Participants had to supply their own power and they were allowed to compete in either or both the Texas and Open divisions. The Chili Cookoff is sponsored by the Thornbury-Clarksburg Rotary Club in partnership with Blue Mountain Resorts.
